Goon Gauntlet

Play as Dice-Bot 9000 as you fight against 10 waves of the evil Goons! At the beginning of each wave, Dice-Bot 9000 receives one of six weapons chosen by a rolling dice in the bottom left corner of your screen. See if you can survive all 10 waves!

Controls:

Goon Gauntlet is playable with keyboards and external controllers (for the most part - see below).

• B Key / B Button - Attack, Start Game
  • NOTE: B Button on controller DOES NOT WORK to start the game. This is a bug we noticed post-submission.
• Space / A Button: Dash
• WASD / Arrow Keys / Left Stick: Move
• ESC: Quit game
  • NOTE: There is not an equivalent controller input for this. This is another bug we noticed post-submission.

Weapons:

Dice-Bot 9000 receives one of these weapons at the beginning of each wave. Different weapons have different cooldowns; some are ranged and others are direct attacks. You will never get the same weapon two waves in a row, but you may also never play with a given weapon for the entire game. It's all up to the roll of the dice! 🎲

1. Magnet: Pulls Goons (and Health Packs) towards you by magnetic attraction. Does not do any damage on its own.
2. Claw: Pinches Goons, dealing small damage and no knockback. Each pinch counts for 1 damage.
3. Glove: Punches Goons, knocking them back. Each punch counts for 1 damage.
4. Gun: Shoots bursts of bullets at Goons. Each bullet counts for 1 damage.
5. Scissors: Shreds through nearby Goons, dealing constant damage upon use.
6. Fan: Blows Goons (and Health Packs) away from you. Does not do any damage on its own.

Goons:

• Spawn in random locations around the arena during each wave.
  
• Stalk you at all points in the arena.
• Wind up and lunge at you, slamming down once close. Deal 1 damage each.
• Have a 1/5 chance of dropping a Health Pack upon death, which gives you an extra heart if you are not already at full health.
• Wave 1 starts with 3 Goons, and each successive wave adds 2 more. They also receive 1 point of extra health for each successive wave (starting at 3 health).

The Pit:

The wood in the center of the arena breaks away and turns into a pit of spikes a couple seconds after anything steps on it. See if you can lure the Goons into the pit - spikes are their greatest weakness! But make sure you steer clear of it also, or you'll take constant damage on top of the spikes too.

Extra Notes:

• Dashing gives you a quick burst of momentum, allowing you to dodge or launch Goons and traverse the arena with ease.
  
• One Health Pack always spawns on the left side of the arena, but after that, you can only obtain them from killing Goons.
  
• The blue lantern on the right side of the arena displays gameplay tips whenever you touch it.
